Villa Ferraia: an exclusive resort in Tuscany

Villa Ferraia, Siena Tuscany

A residence in an unspoiled setting, offering state-of-the-art amenities and technologies. It is located to the south of the historic city of Siena, on the top of a hill with a 360-degree view of the gently rolling Tuscan landscape. It is protected by thousands of hectares of forest belonging to the natural biogenetic reserve of Tocchi, of which 100 are part of the villa’s estate and 25 are fenced off.
The dirt country road leading to the hamlet brings guests into a special land, where humanity and nature are united by the same energy.
It is not just an exclusive private villa, but a place in which to experience the ancient local traditions, learn the secrets of vegetable gardening, relish the intense fragrances of the numerous old varieties of roses growing in the garden, let yourself be pampered by the Roman baths and the sauna built of natural wood, spend the nights looking at the stars and yet remain connected to the rest of the world by a wireless internet service.

Villa Ferraia: the history

Villa Ferraia, Siena Tuscany

The ancient abode, already in existence in 1204, when it submitted to the republic of Siena and became its ally, owes its name to the iron, ferro in Italian, that was mined here in the Middle Ages.
Over the last eight centuries it was occupied by tenant farmers in the service of wealthy Sienese families, from the Tolomei to the Ardengheschi.
Lacking electricity and running water, the hamlet was abandoned in the Second World War. In 1994 it was bought by Patrizia and Vittorio Cambria, who have embarked with enthusiasm on a long and courageous program of conservation and restoration, preserving the villa's original characteristics.
